The new LLPD Catalog 2022 is available for downloads
22.04.2022Some significant improvements implemented inside the document will help the user to better understand Streamer product portfolio and especially topics related to EasyQuench system and Line Lightning Protection Device product range, its operation principles and added values.
Apart from regular product and technology presentation updates, the document introduces three new technical sections with comprehensive responses to frequently asked questions:
- Central spread of the catalog provides guidelines of LLPD deployment at distribution network considering various important parameters of the network and thus gives a clear view on most efficient protection options and product selection for each particular segment of overhead powerline.
- Section “Installation methods for covered conductors from IOV” describes difference of induced overvoltage impacts on power lines equipped with conductors of different basic insulation levels. Not a secret, that power arc behavior is different at lines with bare and insulated conductors. However, it is also important to understand, that basic insulation level of insulated conductor also has a significant impact on IOV propagation along power line, hence way of protection against IOV must consider line BIL.
- “Lightning discharge capability” page provides an overview on standardization of lightning protection apparatus in terms of most important parameter directly indicating ability of this or that product to withstand hazardous effects of lightning discharges.

First LLPD installation for E-Distribuzione near Oderzo, Veneto, Italy
In 2019, the University of Napoli contacted Streamer Electric AG in order the find a lightning protection solution for medium voltage lines. Prof. Amedeo Andreotti was looking for medium voltage line protection devices for E-Distribuzione, the Distribution utility of Italy, part of the ENEL group owner of the electrical network in Italy but also many other electrical networks around the world. E- Distribuzione is actively looking to improve the lightning outage rate on their overhead line network and particularly in the northern part of Italy.
