CIGRE 2022 finished last week
08.09.2022Streamer met with its old friends over the world - it was a nice and warm event, the first big one after the Covid times. CIGRE was also very useful in setting up new cooperation opportunities, mostly in the European region.
Every two years, 3600+ delegates, 6000 industry participants, and 90+ countries take part in the exhibition.
Streamer delegates noted that most of the sessions and discussions were devoted to the operation and monitoring of power lines. For example, Power System Operation and Control, Insulated cables and Electricity markets, and regulation / Power system environmental performance.
On the first day of the conference, the report “Life extension of oil filled transformers and shunt reactors" was actively discussed:
- to define means to extend the service life of a unit which is aged but in acceptable condition whilst ensuring the required level of reliability at a targeted cost;
- or how to implement mitigation solutions to keep a unit in poor condition in service until a planned replacement.
Attention was also paid to cybersecurity, for example, at the Workshop called Standardization of cybersecurity in power utilities digital infrastructures.
Ivan Zhitenev, Streamer AG President, noted that the CIGRE exhibition is a significant event for the entire energy industry. “It is important for us that within one week we can meet with the heads of companies from all over the world. These are high-quality acquaintances, they are useful for all participants”.
Ivan highlighted that Streamer AG had been taking part in the exhibition since 2010 and is a CIGRE member. Traditionally, we demonstrate novelties and share innovations. This year we introduced four product lines: LLPD - arresters for protection of overhead power lines against the effects of induced and direct lightning strikes TRANSEC - online Moisture monitoring & drying solutions for oil insulated transformers, FIPRES - these solutions detect abnormal overheating of electrical equipment, avoiding fire and related property damage and the newest product line - Surge and Lightning monitoring - is designed to help our customers understand the origin of surges, their parameters and effects on equipment, as well as to give a clear and understandable forecast of the life of protective devices.
The company's products aroused keen interest among the visitors to the exhibition, and many people came to our stand toвс find out more.
Streamer's team was excited to take part in the CIGRE exhibition 2022, see you in two years!

Why protecting the line against lightning with a CLG? or LLPD?
First LLPD installation for E-Distribuzione near Oderzo, Veneto, Italy
In 2019, the University of Napoli contacted Streamer Electric AG in order the find a lightning protection solution for medium voltage lines. Prof. Amedeo Andreotti was looking for medium voltage line protection devices for E-Distribuzione, the Distribution utility of Italy, part of the ENEL group owner of the electrical network in Italy but also many other electrical networks around the world. E- Distribuzione is actively looking to improve the lightning outage rate on their overhead line network and particularly in the northern part of Italy.
