The first LLPDs installed in the Chinese province of Yunnan by Streamer
30.08.2019The LLPDs SAd110z were installed in the windmill farm of Lao Jiang Shan in Chuxiong town, the Chinese province of Yunnan.
The Chinese province of Yunnan is located in the South of China. Work has been done for the Yunnan Energy Investment Limited Company. It is the largest manufacturer of table salt, commercial salt, and
alkali chlorine , and the only company in the Yunnan province that has a license for table salt manufacturing and wholesaling.
We have installed 15 LLPDs 110 kV, 81 SAD35Z units, 12 SAi10z units, and 9 SAD10Z units.
Guotao Yang, the Product Manager for the Chinese office of Streamer, communicated to us the details of the installation.
According to him, the problems with electricity supply in the overhead lines of this windmill farm arise every summer. Any operational downtime always results in great difficulties - a breakages are thoroughly investigated to prepare a detailed report for UT. This is a company purchasing electric power from the windmill farm. The entire process takes several days, and each outage leads to huge money losses. Therefore, lightning protection is very important for this wind farm.
The assembly project was performed by 8 people. The poles are located in the mountains which are quite hard to reach, however the working crew dealt with the job perfectly. A major part of the province's territory is covered with mountains, particularly, the foothills of Tibet. "After the installation of our products, we expect a considerable decrease in power outages caused by lightnings in the future. If the favorable result will be achieved, we will likely get another project from this client next year", -concluded Guotao Yang.

First LLPD installation for E-Distribuzione near Oderzo, Veneto, Italy
In 2019, the University of Napoli contacted Streamer Electric AG in order the find a lightning protection solution for medium voltage lines. Prof. Amedeo Andreotti was looking for medium voltage line protection devices for E-Distribuzione, the Distribution utility of Italy, part of the ENEL group owner of the electrical network in Italy but also many other electrical networks around the world. E- Distribuzione is actively looking to improve the lightning outage rate on their overhead line network and particularly in the northern part of Italy.
