Streamer product manager spoke at conference in Brazil
18.10.2019
The event is organized by the Institute of Energy and Environment of the University of Sao Paulo. It covers all aspects related to lightning, including physics and characteristics of lightning, measurements, simulation methods, detection and positioning systems, grounding, protection methods and accidents and damage associated with this phenomenon.
In total, about 180 people from Italy, Switzerland, Algeria, Japan, Sweden, Malaysia, China, South Africa, USA, Canada, Russia, Colombia and Brazil took part in SIPDA. Among them there were academics and students, representatives of networks and manufacturers of protective equipment.
There were world-famous lightning researches: prof. Alexandre Piantini (Brazil), prof. William A. Chisholm (Canada), prof. Vernon Cooray (Sweden), prof. Masaru Ishii (Japan), prof. Carlo A. Nucci (Italy), prof. Farhad Rachidi (Switzerland),prof. Vladimir Rakov (USA).
Mikheil Zhitenev presented a report by Streamer's researcher Dmitry Belko on the development of a unique software that is designed to help energy companies detect the most vulnerable areas of lines, find the best protection means and arrange them on the line.
Thus users can find an effective method of protection for an affordable budget.
"The problem is in the point that current methods and software solutions are very demanding to the user in terms of understanding the problem, knowledge of equipment and of course licenses for several expensive programs at once. At the same time, the majority of users need not high accuracy of calculation but specific solutions for existing problems without long study of the problem and methods. Thus, software developed by Dmitry provides the user with an opportunity to switch from a scientific calculator to a regular one, and everyone can use a regular calculator. The community of academics has accepted simplifications not too keen, but network engineers who face similar problems every day eagerly accepted the proposed solution”, - comments the product manager.
As a part of the SIPDA conference closing ceremony the organizers gave Mikhail Zhitenev a floor to receive the baton and invite participants to the Russian Conference on Lightning Protection, which will be held in April 2020 in St. Petersburg. Many speakers are currently preparing reports for it.

Why protecting the line against lightning with a CLG? or LLPD?
CIGRE 2022 finished last week
Streamer met with its old friends over the world - it was a nice and warm event, the first big one after the Covid times. CIGRE was also very useful in setting up new cooperation opportunities, mostly in the European region.
First LLPD installation for E-Distribuzione near Oderzo, Veneto, Italy
In 2019, the University of Napoli contacted Streamer Electric AG in order the find a lightning protection solution for medium voltage lines. Prof. Amedeo Andreotti was looking for medium voltage line protection devices for E-Distribuzione, the Distribution utility of Italy, part of the ENEL group owner of the electrical network in Italy but also many other electrical networks around the world. E- Distribuzione is actively looking to improve the lightning outage rate on their overhead line network and particularly in the northern part of Italy.
