Streamer JSC at the World Economic Forum in Davos
03.03.2020The 50th Anniversary World Economic Forum was held in Davos, Switzerland, from January 20 to 24, 2020. As part of the event various thematic meetings and discussions were organized and they were also attended by representatives of JSC Streamer - Ivan Zhitenev and Dmitry Terekhin.
Streamer has been cooperating for several years with the Russian representative office of Switzerland Global Enterprise, a key center for export development and support for companies with investment interests in Switzerland. At the Swiss House, they organized a discussion of Digital Manufacturing in Switzerland. The main topic was the global transformation of production, which goes away from usual, already classic, forms towards more modern - ergonomic and environmentally friendly.
A session of "Quantum challenges of the future" was held at the Russian House site, dedicated to one of the most promising areas of quantum technology development - quantum computing. It is clear that the second quantum revolution will cause global changes in many industries, but it is still difficult to assess its social and financial value to the economy and society. Almost any existing cipher can be hacked by a quantum computer. And only using the same quantum methods we can protect and secure. This could lead to a very expensive arms race between the owners of information and those who want to steal it. "I had no idea that quantum computing would lead to the fact that all modern encryption systems would fail. Accordingly, all usual Internet, correspondence, bank messages, anything, will collapse, if there are computers that count a million times faster than modern ones. And there are already prototypes of such computers. Not only technology giants like Google are engaged in development of new computing system, but the task has already reached the level of states. Russia has its own program and China. For me, it opened up a whole new world" - shared impressions of the session Ivan Zhitenev.
Record of the broadcast is available on the web-site of the Russian House in Davos.
Equally interesting was the traditional business breakfast of Sberbank, where the subject of discussion was “Personal transformation in the digital era”. Andrey Kurpatov, head of the Laboratory of Neuroscience and Human Behavior of Sberbank, presented facts that prove that human brain always chooses what is easier. For example, an image of a popular artist is easier to perceive than text of a scientific article. Therefore, brain is more likely to fix its attention on the photo, and the text of the article will not be interested. In the same way, the whole of humanity is developing now - from systemic book thinking we are moving towards simple images and lack of analytical thinking. Current trend leads to a further stratification of society not only on rich and poor but also on smart and stupid. And it is important to understand how to develop science, intellectually oriented processes and succeed in new environment of visuality and escalation of primitive content.
Streamer takes part in such events 2-3 times a year. In 2019, it was the St. Petersburg Economic Congress World Energy Congress in Abu Dhabi. "Participation in such events provides an opportunity to meet people who look at everything from a completely different angle and shape the world for 5-10-15-20 years ahead, to get acquainted with heads of funds through which you can also receive grants, to meet top managers of top global companies. It turns out to be such a helicopter view, which, of course, is very useful," said Ivan Zhitenev.

First LLPD installation for E-Distribuzione near Oderzo, Veneto, Italy

In 2019, the University of Napoli contacted Streamer Electric AG in order the find a lightning protection solution for medium voltage lines. Prof. Amedeo Andreotti was looking for medium voltage line protection devices for E-Distribuzione, the Distribution utility of Italy, part of the ENEL group owner of the electrical network in Italy but also many other electrical networks around the world. E- Distribuzione is actively looking to improve the lightning outage rate on their overhead line network and particularly in the northern part of Italy.

Vietnam Ha Giang Power Company will test Streamer innovative devices of lightning protection.

Ha Giang is a mountainous province with a complex topography and experiences extremely high lightning density during the thunderstorm season. 110 kV lines in the province mostly pass through mountainous terrain, many rivers, and streams, so breaks of the line wires due to lightning, are not uncommon. Most of the problem areas are concentrated in areas such as the Nam Ngan hydroelectric power plant and the city of Viet Kuang. Installation of innovative lightning protection devices to provide the region with uninterrupted power supply was necessary.
