International Forum "Power Grids": discussing new style and digitalization12.12.2019
In the future, the electric energy sector will rely on digitalization, implementation of digital systems and artificial intelligence technologies, as well as the Big Data management methods. The organizers of the International Forum recognize this well, that is why a case zone for startups in the field of electric energy was created there for the first time.
A large delegation was sent to the capital from our company. The employees share their observations and impressions of participation in the "Power Grids" Forum.
Maria Alexandrova, the Lead Specialist of Alternative Engineering, shares the outcome of the exhibition, in particular, the visitor's demand analysis. In her opinion, there was an evident demand for transition points.
"Visitors were coming up with the questions on both complete post-transition points and digital transition points. The questions were ranging from general ones concerning the organization of transitions to specialized issues on specific elements. There were issues raised on the capability for installation of HF-communication for the military, on the time taken for recalculation of a post based on the specific conditions. Visitors were also interested in the capability for installation of thermal monitoring systems, in the possible transition through railways, in installation practices for the oil-and-gas industry, in capability for engineering on a lattice pole, and in information on manufacturing plants", - tells Maria.
Lots of leaflets and catalogs were taken away by visitors. About 10 visitors left their contacts with a specific request of materials and albums with unified solutions on the complete post-transition cable-and-overhead points. Among them, there were major design organizations and power grid companies.
Andrey Mazaev, the Regional Manager of Streamer, has also been participating in the exhibition not for the first time. He notes a considerable expansion of the expositions, interesting booths of the participants, and also a rich business program of the "Power Grids" Forum.
"This year, an excellent business program had been prepared with additional case zones on digitalization of power grids. I managed to visit one event where the participants were discussing steps to be taken for a digital transition. This is a very popular topic started by Rosseti several years ago", - says Andrey.
Polina Gonina, the Specialist of Grid Monitoring of Streamer, has prepared a report for a speech in the case zone of the SEFL technology forum.
"It was the first time for me to speak in such a large-scale event, which was a little bit worrying, however, this allow gaining a new experience in public presentations. The audience in the case zone was welcoming, and they asked interesting questions. After the speech, it was so pleasant to get a feedback and to become convinced of the need of development of our device. Many people showed a genuine interest in our solution to the damage localization issue and told us stories based on real operating conditions. Such information allows us becoming better, improving the system, and elaborating the damage localization system", - she says.
Digitalization in action
In fact, digitalization is widely discussed in all areas of life, however, electric power stands apart in this list due to a great number of nuances to be considered for the energy security of the country. Rosset had several projects on the organization of digital substations in Moscow and the Moscow Region, in the Leningrad Region and the Kaliningrad Region. At first, however, there was no uniform understanding of the outcome.
Digital products gradually appear in the product range of Streamer. One of the last products is the continuous monitoring system RIF. It enables performing an automatic detection of overheated contact connections and sending information to a control room.
"Additional microprocessor control units are required for digitalization of substations. They are very sensitive to interference and overvoltage. The equipment may be protected using surge protection devices", - comments Andrey Mazaev.
"Taking into account the trends of development of digital technologies is essential for the creation of communications and for long-term planning", - says Ivan Zhitenev, the Director General of Streamer. "At the same time, it is important to remember that without reliable facilities, the digital systems will not work", - he notes.
"For instance, the line lightning protection is increasingly required for the digital systems, because they become more sensitive to overvoltage. In addition, we consider all changes in the budgetary structures of our customers while offering them projects satisfying the relevant requests. For example, digital monitoring is a big and important component of Transec, the oil-filled transformer insulation state monitoring system, although the product is designed to ensure a reliable facility. Besides, we implement projects on the protection of digital substations on the base of our surge protection devices. The most "digitalized" product of Streamer is SEFL, the single-side system localizing damages to a cable-and-overhead line. It consists of the devices recording alarm signals and the software that enables signal analyzing and processing", - he concludes.
